I was introduced to your books by a good friend of mine who is wheelchair bound or recliner. He is a flat out genius, and we have very good conversations about a myriad of subject matter. I was very pleasantly surprised by the first book that I read. I have never served in Afghanistan, but I was the Joint Detachment Chief in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for USMTM. Most of the young men working for me were from very poor families in Afghanistan – loved them all. I had some incredibly interesting people I advised including the the longest serving 4 star general, Al Shouaibi (promoted in 1948), who died while I was there (1982-3). I was also the senior advisor to him as well as a younger COL Khalid bin Sultan ibn Abdul Aziz ibn Saud, later LTG Pan Arab Commander under GEN Schwartzkopf. I also met the bin Laden family at one or more of the many ambassadorial functions in Jeddah – no, I do not know them only “griped and grinned”. Also, met the despot Idi Amin. All in all, probably the most interesting job I had in my Army career. Thank you for your books; great thought provoking action. God bless you so glad you gave my friend those books, Mullah’s Storm and Silent Enemy. He prizes the nice notes you wrote for him. I have deliberately left his name out as I do not know who has access to this.

Many thanks for those kind words, Robert, and thank you for your service to our country. I’m honored that my novels rang true for you. All the best….
